Tata.ev is set to enhance India's EV charging infrastructure, aiming to establish 400,000 charging points by 2027.

Tata Motors will be developing India’s EV infrastructure by establishing 4 Lakh charging points across the country by 2027. This expansion comes under the strategy called Open Collaboration 2.0, which is formed to enhance the EV ecosystem in India and make charging convenient, seamless and accessible to all the EV users, as the demand of EVs is increasing significantly in the country.
Expansion Strategy
To fulfill the desired numbers, Tata.ev is collaborating with leading Charge Point Operators (CPOs) and Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs).
Tata is planning to install more than 30,000 new public chargers, as Tata also wants to differentiate their Tata.ev verified chargers so that they can be easily located via the IRA app.
Apart from increasing charging infrastructure, Tata.ev wants to install more than 500+ DC fast chargers across major highways, connecting EVs with major cities so that people can comfortably travel in their electric cars.

Tata’s Charging Network
Tata’s Charging Network is the most important focus under this expansion strategy. In the first phase, there will be an installation of more than 500 DC fast Chargers, in partnership with major CPOs such as Tata Power, ChargeZone, Statiq, and Zeon.
Tata.ev Mega Chargers will be giving you access to
- Superfast charging with four charging points in one station.
- Priority Access and various other Tariff benefits for Tata.ev users.
- Providing convenient access to company’s official chargers via the IRA.ev app, which removes the need of installing multiple apps.
Customer Oriented Services
Tata.ev will be providing a variety of client focussed services which will enhance the user experience of the consumer, entering into the EV ecosystem of Tata. It includes a dedicated 24*7 Charging Helpline for instant query solving and providing support.
Tata will also be developing a Unified Payments Wallet, making the transactions seamless across different charging networks.
Tata.ev’s Vision towards India’s EV Industry

Tata Motors have achieved record sales of more than 2,00,000 Lakh EVs sold with more than 5 Billion kilometers driven worldwide. Tata Motors wants to make this experience even robust and developed so that India could have its developed charging infrastructure. The company has been working since 2019 for home, community and public charging solutions, advancing the transition to EV mobility in India.
This expansion project will increase the speed, reliability and improve the user experience of charging, with a fostered development in the connectivity of the CPOs and looking for more growth options to enhance the EV architecture in the country.
Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles addressed this topic by saying that, “Tata.ev is at the forefront of India’s EV innovation, not just by developing world class electric vehicles, but also developing a solid charging infrastructure across India. To further increase the exponential growth of EVs in India, we will be launching ‘Open Collaboration 2.0’ which will further increase the charging stations to over 4,00,000 stations in the next two years, which will be in a partnership with global CPOs.”
