Wonder Cement has placed an order for 250 Montra Electric Rhino E-Trucks.

Wonder Cement has deployed more than 250 Montra Electric Rhino 5538 EV 4*2 TT heavy-duty electric trucks specifically for freight operations on the Nimbahera-Dahej Port and Nimbahera-Tuna Port routes. The deployment is part of the company’s efforts in order to electrify the long-haul cement transportation.

The trucks will be operating on freight corridors spanning across 1,450 Km across Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat. As per companies, the vehicles will carry full payloads on daily duty cycles similar to conventional diesel trucks. The corridor has also been equipped with 13 charging stations comprising 39 chargers.

Montra Electric Rhino 5538 EV 4*2 TT Technical Details 

The Montra Electric Rhino 5538 EV 4*2 TT has a capacity of 55-Tonne Gross Combination Weight (GCW) electric tractor-trailer which is specifically designed for applications such as cement and steel transportation. It comes powered with a 282 kWh Lithium-ion Phosphate (LFP) battery and a permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). 

POWER: It generates a maximum power output of 280 kW and peak torque of 2,000 Nm. The vehicle is capable of 18 Degree gradeability and comes equipped with 6-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). 

Montra Electric has claimed a range of up to 198 Km on a single charge under a duty cycle which includes one loaded trip and empty return trip. It comes with two variants to choose from: a fixed battery version which can charge from 20% to 100% in just 60 minutes. 

The battery-swap version can do battery replacement in just six minutes. The company has also started deployment for electric trucks for commercial freight transport. This sustainable fleet is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 39,500 tonnes once fully deployed.
