MG’s most successful EV is set to get an upgrade with a larger battery pack and technology upgrades such as ADAS. Introduced in September 2024, MG Windsor is currently top selling EV in India.

The Windsor EV has hit the right needs of consumers by providing essential features such as good storage space, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) and host of modern features.

Thus with an update, MG is providing a bigger battery pack with the Windsor to cater the needs of consumers demanding more range. Let’s discuss what new features MG Windsor EV is coming with.

Larger Battery Pack

At present, The Windsor EV is powered by a 38 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 332 Km on a single charge. The electric motor produces a healthy 136 HP and 200 Nm of torque.

As per reports from various sources, there could be a new addition of a variant in the 2025 MG Windsor EV lineup which will be powered by a bigger 50.6 kWh battery pack to give a significantly longer range than the current variant.

This will make the Windsor ready for longer highway trips with frequently less charging stops. For urban commuting as well, this bigger battery will ensure longer kilometers of run with less charging cycles.

Expected Range: The 2025 Windsor EV with the larger 50.6 kWh battery pack could provide a range of more than 450 Km, as the Indonesian version provides a claimed CLTC range of 460 Km.

But with the Indian version, it is expected to deliver something around 400 Km, which is quite substantial as MG has eradicated the only weakness of Windsor EV, and that is less range on a single charge.

ADAS Powered

It is also expected that the 2025 Windsor EV will be equipped with ADAS suite and if that is true then it could be a competitive advantage than its prime competitor Nexon EV, as it would be even more feature equipped and can become a value for money proposition.

The ADAS will bring features like autonomous emergency braking, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition, blind spot detection, surround view monitoring and adaptive cruise control.

With these expected updates, the 2025 Windsor EV will become even more desirable and safer than before with existing safety features such as 6 airbags, electronic stability control, 360° camera, hill hold control, parking sensors and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The Windsor EV has also achieved record sales figures of 20,000 sales in just 6 months, which is a record milestone for an electric car in India.

Pricing

The existing Windsor EV is available in the price range of Rs 14 Lakh to Rs 16 Lakh. Now it would be interesting to see how MG will price the updated Windsor EV in the compact SUV segment.
