Ather Energy has a strategic alliance with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Minister of Commerce and Industry, with an objective of expanding electric vehicle manufacturing in India. 

For this, the two-wheeler manufacturer has signed an agreement of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the DPIIT in order to enhance the green mobility ecosystem in the country. According to the official statement by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, it has been stated that MoU will be focussing on the growth of India’s electric mobility and advanced manufacturing sectors. 

As per the agreement between DPIIT and Ather Energy, both the organizations will be working under the Built in Bharat initiative formed by the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), which is a profound network of more than 50 innovation-based startups focussing on developing a strong ecosystem for implementing manufacturing in India. 

As per ANI, the MoU has outlined a comprehensive strategy which focuses on building a developed mentorship for deep-tech startups, infrastructure support for startups working in the development of EV networks in India, and joint innovation programs like Bharat Startup Grand Challenge.

Speaking of the collaboration, it will also incorporate co-hosted talent and skill development programs, which involves showing interest in important startup events such as Startup Mahakumbh, and on-the-site training to conduct learning and networking. 

This partnership will be accelerating India's transition towards electric mobility and helping manufacturing-oriented startups by supporting them with various initiatives. 

The Joint Secretary of DPIIT, Sanjiv Singh, expressed his views on the signing ceremony and said, “The electric mobility in India is experiencing a great transformation, Our strategic partnership with Ather Energy, we will be focussing on creating a supportive environment where startups can contribute effectively to EV manufacturing, battery development, and clean energy solutions.”

The Co-Founder and CEO of Ather Energy, Tarun Mehta, expressed his views and highlighted the importance of the partnership and said, “We are excited to partner with DPIIT in order to strengthen support systems for hardware and deep-tech players.

With enhanced policy framework and stronger transition towards EV development, this initiative can provide the founders with seamless technology solutions and produce high-quality products in India.”
