Ather Konarc Launch Delayed: Capacity Constraints Push Entry-Level EV to Q4 FY2027
The introduction of Konarc's accessible model has been delayed, fundamentally to protect profit margins as the company grapples with major production complications. Ather is struggling to keep pace with manufacturing electric scooters, as consumer demand continues to surge beyond their current production capacity.
Thus Ather Energy has pushed the launch of its much awaited Konarc S 100 from Q1 to the fourth quarter of FY2027. Below we have mentioned the complete breakdown of why the launch has been postponed.
Ather Konarc Launch Delayed: Why the Wait?
According to CEO, Tarun Mehta, there is roughly 18,000 to 20,000 units of monthly demand that are not being able to complete. Thus launching a new entry-level model can hamper the production capacity, which has been directed to fulfill their higher-margin models.

- Pre-orders are surging: If we look at the pre-orders between July and September 2026 (Q2 FY2027), they have almost doubled year-over-year to around 1.80 lakh units.
- Production is maxed out: During the same period, the average monthly production was limited to just 33,000 units, as even the Hosur plant is currently running at 98% capacity.
Ather Energy Capacity Expansion
In order to bridge the gap between rising demand and factory production, Ather has announced a strategic Rs 122 crore investment to rapidly increase the production.
| Facility | Investment | Capacity Upgrade | Timeline |
| Hosur Plant | Rs 58 Crore | Expanding from 4.2 lakh to 4.95 lakh units per year. | By December 2026 |
| AURIC PlantSambhajinagar | Rs 64 Crore | Introducing phased commercial production at 5 lakh units per year. | Starting December 2026 |
| New Battery Line | - | Next-generation battery production infrastructure | By Q3 FY2028 |

Thus Ather’s combined installed manufacturing capacity will rise from 9.2 lakh to 11.45 lakh units annually.
Phased Rollout Plan: Rajasthan and UP Take the Lead
Even after the timeline shifted to Q4 FY2027, the Konarc won’t be available instantly, as Ather will be implementing phased rollout in order to avoid exhausting their newly upgraded assembly lines.
The rollout will commence in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, with subsequent expansion across western, central, and northern regions. Meanwhile, those anticipating the affordable Konarc S 100 should prepare for a late 2027 arrival.
