BlackBuck EV and Chalo are set to launch 300 electric buses.
Hyderabad-based company BlackBuck Electric Vehicles India Pvt Ltd (BlackBuck EV) and Chalo Mobility Private Limited (Chalo) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the proposed rollout of 300 electric buses across Urban and intercity routes in India.
This partnership states that BlackBuck EV will manufacture, supply and maintain electric buses in 9-meter, 13.5-meter, and 15-meter size configurations. Chalo will deploy and operate buses on intra-city and intercity routes powered by mobility technology platforms.
As per BlackBuck EV, the deployment process of 300 electric buses will be completed over the period of next three years. Currently, the company’s 9-meter and 15-meter bus models are in homologation, with approvals expected by the end of 2026. The commercial production of electric buses will start from the second quarter of 2027.

BlackBuck & Chalo Strategic Alliance
This collaboration will use BlackBuck EV’s electric bus platform by integrating with Chalo’s transport technology. The BlackBuck EV buses are underpinned by a skateboard platform with an aluminium-composite space-frame body.
Chalo Platform will provide passenger-facing features such as trip planning, live bus tracking, digital ticketing, fare collection and passenger information, along with fleet management. This partnership will also utilise vehicle and operational data in order to support preventive maintenance, fleet availability and optimised route operations.
The electric bus lineup of BlackBuck EV includes the VIRO 2X (9-meter) for urban operations, the ELON 2X (13.5-meter) for intercity travel, the ELON 3X (15-Meter) multi-axle electric bus for long-distance operations.
