Chartered Speed Limited, which is a passenger bus mobility service provider company has partnered with EKA Mobility, an electric commercial manufacturer, and have received Confirmation of Quantity (LOCQ) in order to deploy 1,750 electric buses in Bengaluru, which is supported by Government of India’s PM E-Drive Scheme

This deployment will encourage the development of electric public transport in the city. The allocation will be 39% of Bengaluru’s total of 4,500 electric buses sanctioned under the scheme. 

The Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has been updating the electric bus network by adding electric buses in order to achieve Karnataka’s clean mobility initiatives and decarbonisation mission of the Government of India. 

1,750 E-Buses in Bengaluru

According to the Chartered Speed, it complies with the safety measures for its electric vehicle operations which includes preventive maintenance, battery management, and driver training. 

Under this collaboration, Chartered Speed will be responsible for the operations, while EKA Mobility will be working on vehicle manufacturing and technology assistance, with the ultimate goal of providing developed urban transport services for urban commuters in Bengaluru.
