The public bus fleet of Delhi will be going through a revolutionary transition to complete EV setup in the span of three years, with the vision of deploying 11,000 buses and developing the charging and depot infrastructure.

This announcement was made on Republic Day, placing transport decarbonisation as a top priority of the city’s mobility policy. Delhi’s Chief minister also addressed the gathering and expressed her views and said, “The Delhi government is expanding its capital expenditure and more than 30,000 crores will be allocated on the capital expenditure in Delhi.

Within the next 3 years, 100% of Delhi’s transport buses will be converted to a complete electric fleet. All necessary steps have been taken to ensure that Delhi has a network of 11,000 electric buses. The infrastructure and new charging stations to manage this fleet is in the development process.”

Benefits of these Policies

If all these policies are implemented successfully, this shift to electric mobility can significantly reduce tail-pipe emissions, lower noise, and reduce operating fuel costs. Thus it is very important to prioritise careful tendering, battery warranty terms and determining long-term value.
