Tesla has issued a mass recall of 20,349 vehicles in the US for their low-beam headlight issues which can exceed the permitted maximum light output. This defect was found by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). This excessive light spread can reduce visibility for the oncoming traffic, thus increasing the risk of crash accidents

This massive recall includes Tesla 3 model cars produced in 2017-2023 model years and Model Y SUVs registered between 2020-2023. As per NHTSA, these proposed vehicles do not follow the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 108, which is for the vehicle lighting and related equipment.

No Such Announcement for India

For Indian markets, there is no such announcement for the specific headlight recall for Model Y sold in Indian markets. However, it's unlikely that Tesla will initiate a recall in India as Tesla began selling the Model Y in 2025, which means that the vehicles offered in the country falls outside the 2020-2023 model range in this recall.
