KTM has showcased its all-electric prototype for the first time at KTM Motohall Exhibition, which is located at the company’s headquarters in Mattighofen, Designed and developed in Australia, this is the full electric sibling of the popular Duke 390. The details came in the video by the company’s stunt rider Rok Bagoros.

KTM debuted in the electric motorcycle segment in 2011 with a unique concept of stylised bikes catered for a specific segment of people. Their first electric bike was a Freeride E off-roader, especially made for kids. The company has more than a decade of motorcycle experience and has shared their first prototype of their commercial e-motorcycle.

KTM E-Duke: Battery and Hardware System

During the presentation, KTM emphasized its commitment to upcoming electric motorcycles. Both the E-Duke and E-Pilen will be equipped with a 10 kW electric motor and a 5.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. However, this is just a prototype and KTM has not disclosed the exact performance and range figures.

However as per our expectations, this size of battery pack won’t give a real world range of more than 100 Km but this design can surely provide a sporty experience and sharp handling.

The E-Duke will be sharing the same suspension from the Duke 390 as it will be featuring the same chassis which includes main trellis frame, swingarm, offset monoshock, braking system and wheels, thus retaining the original signature hardware of KTM’s Iconic Duke 390.

KTM E-Duke Expected India Entry

If the KTM E-Duke is made in India, then there is a possibility of in-house manufacturing with Bajaj Auto Limited as it has taken the majority of control of KTM. As per various speculations, the brand is eager to sell the E-Duke in India.

Acquiring KTM is a strategic move by its Netherlands based subsidiary Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV (BAIHBV). Currently, the company manages the entire stake in KTM’s parent company, Pierer Bajaj AG (PBAG).

The relationship between Bajaj and KTM is not new as back in the time, Bajaj used to be a minority investor in KTM, playing a supporting role in the company's global expansion. But with this big acquisition, the Indian manufacturer will be controlling the global presence of the company and will be drafting new strategies to enhance its worldwide growth and possibilities.

If we look at KTM’s India roadmap, Bajaj has played an important role in shaping the development of the company in India. This has given KTM a household identity and led to seamless local manufacturing, increased domestic sales, developed their Indian goodwill and trust among customers, with impressive exports to over 80 international markets. This acquisition will boost KTM’s growth trajectory and will solidify Bajaj’s leadership position.
