Mahindra has just updated its EV lineup by introducing its latest XEV 9S, including the XEV 9e, BE 6, and XUV400. After the launch of XEV 9S, the executive director at Mahindra, Rajesh Jejurikar has confirmed that they will be increasing their production capacity from 4,000 to 5,000 units to a total of 8,000 units by the end of FY26.

Mahindra EV Production Capacity

According to Mahindra, their born-electric EVs will be manufactured at the company’s Chakan plant which currently has the EV-specific production capacity of about 5,000 units per month.

However, it will be increased rapidly as Rahul further explained by saying that, “We will be ensuring that supply chain, vendor ecosystem, and workforce are all prepared for the increased capacity in order to ensure seamless work operations.

As per Mahindra, around 7.5% of Mahindra’s total sales come from its EVs, of which a total of 7% comes through BE 6 and XEV 9e. With the launch of XEV 9S, the company has expected the sales to increase at a rapid rate, and has projected the sales percentage to rise significantly at 20-25% by 2028, which is around 3 times more than the current sales.

However, Mahindra has not revealed how the increased number of production will be allocated to different born-electric models across the lineup, which the Mahindra MD expects to be dependent on the demand. He further expressed that, “We will be allocated the model-wise details with time, once we expand into higher operating levels.”
