Our AllAboutEVs team did a Mahindra XEV 9S ownership review 2026 owned by Amit, who is a seasoned EV owner, who has driven his XEV 9S for more than 2,000 Km across diverse terrains. He provides us with a genuine real-life experience about the performance and features of the XEV 9S.
AdvertisementWhy did he choose Mahindra XEV 9S?
The owner Amit has been driving electric cars since 2020. When looking for a premium seven-seater electric SUV, he did various test drives of competitors such as the BYD eMax 7. However, when he drove the XEV 9S, it immediately grabbed his attention. Underpinned on the INGLO platform, it offers a complete balance of luxury, robust road presence, and exceptional performance.

At ₹29.75 lakhs on-road in Delhi, it feels like a perfect value for the advanced technologies on offer. The delivery experience was also smooth, with strong dealer support resolving allocation issues within days.
Mahindra XEV 9S Performance & Real-World Range
When buying a family electric car, the range anxiety is one of the biggest challenges. The Mahindra XEV 9S packs a bigger 79 kWh battery pack. But what about the real-world range?
According to Amit, the car can comfortably provide 500 km of real-world range on a full charge. However, during heavy traffic, the efficiency drops slightly, but the average consumption sticks around 7.3 to 7.5 km/kWh. During a relaxed night drive, he also achieved an impressive 9.5 km/kWh. Driving seamlessly in L1 regenerative braking mode, it makes it highly efficient for daily city drives.

The acceleration is also quite responsive and Level 2-ADAS features like emergency braking and steering assist perform exceptionally well especially during highway journeys.
Mahindra XEV 9S Battery Health & Charging Experience
The XEV 9S comes with a reliable LFP battery pack, thus maintaining it is quite seamless yet stress-free. Being a LFP pack, it is advisable to charge it to 100% SOC for proper cell calibration. Amit also uses a 11 kW AC home charger, which can comfortably charge the battery from 25% to 100% SOC in just 6 to 7 hours. He has also integrated it with a home solar setup, which just practically cuts down the cost to zero.
Mahindra XEV 9S Premium Features & Comfort
Mahindra prioritises heavily on passenger comfort. The ‘Executive Boss Mode’ pushes the seats back automatically on opening the doors, which gives VIP treatment for the rear occupants. The suspension which has received mixed feedback online, has been updated via OTA update.

Now the ride quality feels incredibly smooth in default mode. Additional features include ventilated rear seats, three-screen setup, 360-Degree camera recording, and a highly effective multi-zone air conditioning system that can chill the cabin in just 5 minutes.
Mahindra XEV 9S Issues
No car is perfect, as the owner Amit pointed out several drawbacks of the XEV 9S. Surprisingly, the electric tailgate is missing for a 30 lakh car. On the other hand, there are various software glitches like wireless Android Auto getting disconnected automatically or the driver’s screen freezing. Although, it will get easily fixed via future OTA updates.
