Mercedes-AMG E 53 Plug-in Hybrid 4MATIC+ Revealed in India: Specs, Features & First Look
Mercedes-Benz has finally entered into the rising PHEV segment in India and introduced its AMG E 53 Plug-in Hybrid 4MATIC+, a car capable of doing it all. Mercedes has priced it at a starting price of Rs 1.48 crore. Below we have provided a detailed breakdown of the specs, features and overall design of the car.
Mercedes-AMG E 53 AMG PHEV Technology
The new version of the AMG E 53 comes with a highly advanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) technology. The 2026 performance sedan comes powered with a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-petrol engine integrated with an electric motor paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
AdvertisementPOWER: By Combining the petrol and battery, the setup generates 585 Hp and 750 Nm of peak torque. The power is sent to all four wheels via 4MATIC+ AWD system. With the optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package, the power bumps to 612 Hp, the moment Race Start is switched on.

In this mode, the E 53 can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 3.8 seconds and reach a claimed top speed of 280 km/hr.
BATTERY: The AMG E 53 also comes powered with a 21.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack providing a pure electric range of over 100 Km. The 400V battery supports AC charging speeds of up to 11 kW. However, in global markets it also supports fast charging speeds of 60 kW DC fast charging, which can charge from 10-80% in just 20 mins.
Mercedes-AMG E 53 Design & Suspension
Suspension: The AMG E 53 gets AMG-specific modifications for the chassis which includes extra bracing at the front and rear axles, a 11 mm wider front track and adaptive suspension with Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes. The braking system has also been tuned to work seamlessly with the hybrid system’s energy recuperation.

DESIGN: Visually, the AMG E 53 is more sporty in design than the standard E-Class. At the front, it comes with an AMG-specific grille with illumination, redesigned bumpers with larger air intakes and front fenders widened by 11 mm on each side. The design is also unique and stands out from the competition.
At the rear, it gets a boot-lid spoiler, and a redesigned bumper with blacked-out diffuser and four round exhaust tips. On the inside, the E 53 gets AMG-spec seats and an AMG steering wheel.

- It gets a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and 14.4-inch touchscreen. Globally, the buyers can also choose SuperScreen, which adds a big screen for the front passenger.
