Mercedes AMG has showcased its new GT 4-Door coupe EV, which is the prototype version of the Concept AMG GT XX unveiled in June. This will be also the first model to be underpinned by the brand’s all-new AMG.EA (AMG Electric Architecture) platform, slated to be launched in 2026.

Mercedes released a promotional film featuring actor Brad Pitt and Mercedes F1 driver George Russell. Mercedes has positioned the upcoming GT as part of AMG’s performance and motorsport legacy.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door Coupe EV: Platform and Performance

The AMG.EA platform utilises a high-performance battery and addition of powerful new electric motors developed exclusively for AMG. These motors provide higher energy performance and are more compact and light-weight, thus expected to provide a superior performance during repeated acceleration push.

AMG has also confirmed that the new GT 4-Door will be powered with axial-flux motors and will feature a liquid-cooled battery system for the platform. The company is using this technology to provide a constant power output and efficient cooling, as both of these factors are important to place the GT in a performance-oriented category.

Mercedes-Benz AMG GT 4-Door EV: Expected Design

The teaser also puts a spotlight on the design of the upcoming GT 4-Door Coupe EV. These include a big bonnet, similar fastback-type shape of its ICE model. The EV also comes with smoother surfaces, and gets a cleaner front end, incorporated with flush-type door handles which contribute to increased aerodynamic efficiency.

The roofline and the rear of the car are also more streamlined, which ensures sporty handling for the electric version. The teaser also confirmed several highlights such as production-ready lighting and finished bodywork, which indicates that the AMG is close to its production model.
