The new Ather Grid fast charger is projected to increase charging speeds twofold.

Ather Energy is one of the only EV manufacturers to have a fully operational wide network of fast chargers, with over 4,300+ fast chargers across India. Ather was also working on their Gen-2 design for increasing the number of Grid Fast Chargers, and it is introduced by the company as well, let’s delve into the details of how powerful this new charger is.
Ather Grid Gen-2 chargers are set to launch shortly
As displayed in the image above, the new generation of Grid Fast Chargers will be more compact and slimmer than before, thus seamlessly integrating in a small place, ensuring flexibility.
According to some sources, the Gen-2 Grid chargers are expected to increase the charging speed by double rate than the existing charger, which is a welcome feature as it will rapidly charge the scooter, ensuring minimum charging time.
For example, the current Grid charger can juice up any Ather scooter’s battery at the rate of 1.5km/min and Vida scooter at 1.2 km/min, as the Hero EVs use the same charge connector as Ather’s scooters.
Currently, it seems like Gen-2 Ather Grid Chargers are serving as a power source for the existing network of fast chargers in India, with replacement costs to incur in sometime in order to ensure that all chargers are working efficiently.
The next generation Gen-2 Grid chargers are being installed in selected locations like Bengaluru with a nationwide update expected to launch once the company officially introduces these new Gen-2 chargers at Community Day, which is set to be scheduled on August 30, where the launch of the company’s new EL platform will also be introduced.
Although the rates for charging through Gen-2 Grid chargers are not decided, as currently Ather charges its customers with Rs 1/min for using Ather Grid fast charging networks. It is also important to note that Ather Grid chargers stop charging the vehicle once the battery level reaches 80% SOC, which will be continued in the next generation Gen-2 Grid chargers as well.
