Nissan has just displayed their range of electric vehicles, showcasing all-new Micra EV and the third generation of Leaf, on Wednesday. Both the cars are expected to launch in Europe this year followed by the Juke electric crossover in 2026.

Key details regarding the Nissan Micra EV

Battery & Expected Range: The previous versions of Micra EV were available in only petrol and diesel options in India. But in the fifth generation, The Micra will be an all-electric vehicle, powered by a 40 kWh and 52 kWh battery pack choices.

The larger battery is expected to provide over 400 Km of range on a single charge, however, Nissan did not reveal the exact specifications and power figures.

Platform: The Micra EV can be developed on a CMF-BEV platform, striking resemblance to the Renault 5, as Renalult has strategic alliances with the Japanese manufacturer, so there are speculations that the Micra EV can be manufactured in France.

Design: Visually, the new Micra EV has taken design inspiration from the motorsport-themed 20-23 EV concept, displayed one and a half years ago.

The design also features the Nissan’s signature logo-shaped circular LED headlights and a width-wide light strip on the front bumper replaced by a silver trim to give a sportier look. The wheel arches house a gloss-black cladding, and slimmer outside rear view mirrors. The electric Micra EV does not get a rear spoiler, and interiors were not revealed.

Battery & Expected Range: The exact battery details are not revealed by Nissan, but it is expected that the EV will provide around 598 Km of range.

Platform: The electric Leaf will be also designed under CMF-EV platform, which is used in a larger Nissan Ariya. Nissan will be manufacturing the upcoming EVs at their state-of-the-art factory at Sunderland, which it claims is the UK’s largest car manufacturing plant in terms of volumes.

Design: It is for the first time that Nissan has displayed their third-generation Leaf EV in production form. The length of the car has been slightly reduced as compared to their previous versions. Visually, the design looks like a compact SUV-like high stance.

Nissan has also focussed on improving the aerodynamics while designing the Leaf EV as it has a lower 0.25 drag coefficient (Cd), which helps to boost efficiency and range.
