Ola Electric achieves certification for its Ferrite Motor, which does not use rare earth elements.

Ola Electric has emerged as the first two-wheeler electric manufacturer to obtain certification from the government for its in-house developed rare Earth-Free Ferrite Motor. This certification was provided by Global Automotive Research Center (GARC) situated in Tamil Nadu.
The locally manufactured Ferrite motor had to pass through mandatory motor power and performance tests which are as per AIS 041 standards, as stated by the Ministry of Road Transport, Government of India.
The motor was tested in their 7 kW and 11 kW variants and achieved a remarkable performance which were equivalent to rare-earth permanent magnet motors.
Now Ola Electric will start combining the certified ferrite motor into the company’s electric two-wheelers. The company first unveiled the motor at its ‘Sankalp 2025’ event organised in August 2025.
