The Subsidy Breakdown: How much do you Save?

In order to make EV mobility more accessible and reduce the cost of transportation, the state is providing numerous subsidies and benefits. The major highlight of these subsidies is the 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees for cars registered before December 31, 2026. 

  • Electric Two-Wheelers: If you are purchasing an electric motorcycle or scooter, the users are eligible for 100% exemption on road tax and registration fees exclusively for the vehicles registered before December 31, 2026. 
  • Electric Private Cars: For private electric SUVs or hatchback, the state is providing 100% road tax and registration fee waiver for private cars. 
  • Commercial 4-Wheelers (Taxis & Cabs): The commercial fleet operators and taxi drivers are subject to get completely exempt from road tax and registration fees for all commercial EVs registered before December 31, 2026.

  • Electric Buses and Tractors: The first 500 electric buses are eligible for 100% exemption from road tax and registration. The electric tractors are also bound to receive 100% exemption as per existing Transport Department rules. 
  • Government Employee Discount: The state employees are eligible to get a 20% direct subsidy on EV purchases through manufacturer agreements with various brands like Mahindra, Ola, and Ather.

Step-By-Step Claim Guide

The dedicated process includes claiming your subsidy which is digitally available and does not require any agent for subsidy completion.   

1. Buy Approved: Buy an all-electric vehicle from a state registered dealer.   

2. Apply Online: Once the vehicle is purchased, the dealer will take care of your vehicle registration. In Telangana, you automatically receive a 100% exemption on your road tax and registration fees.  

3. Submit Docs: The subsidy needs original documents of the owner which includes invoice, RC, battery registration certificate, and Aadhar card of the owner.

4. Receive Funds: Carefully check and review your subsidy which transfers into your bank account within 30 working days of registering the claim.
