A recent patent leak from TVS points to a new electric scooter. Is this the next global electric model from the brand?

TVS Motor is working on their new electric scooter and it has been confirmed after a leak of new scooter design, recently unveiled via a patent application in Indonesia. The patent offers a sneak peek at the design of the forthcoming electric scooter.
However, there is no exact timeline of the expected launch of the new scooter, but as per reports from various sources the new scooter will be positioned as the entry-level scooter in the TVS lineup as the company wants to place the new scooter below the iQube in terms of pricing and features, in order to make more cost-affective options for users in segment.
TVS Upcoming Scooter: Expected Design
According to the leaked patent image, the upcoming scooter has drawn inspiration from the widely recognized TVS iQube, but it presents a sharper aesthetic and a more modern face.
It will also have various new design elements to give a distinctive look to the scooter such as LED headlamps with integrated DRLs similar to the iQube but with a slim and more modern approach. The design of the scooter is also more aerodynamic with redesigned body panels that flow seamlessly towards the floorboard to the rear end.
The overall design language is more concentrated towards a slimmer and sharper, as compared to the boxy and bold design of the iQube, thus proving that the TVS is more inclined towards younger audience and users looking for a more modern and futuristic design.
Could this be the Global EV that TVS has hinted at?
The manufacturer has already confirmed earlier that they are working on the development of a new scooter. However, there is a confusion regarding which powertrain it will come equipped with as there is a possibility of an EV or an internal combustion engine (ICE) scooter.
In Indonesia, TVS supplies a selection of conventional scooters, as the company has not made any statements about patent submissions. However, going by recent clarifications and statements and the company’s constant efforts in the evolving EV field, it is majorly expected that the new scooter will join the brand’s electric lineup.
This patent has leaked at the time frame when TVS is registering record sales in the two-wheeler market.
