During the Abu Dhabi DRIFTx, WeRide's Autonomous Vehicle encountered an accident.

The DRIFTx event in Abu Dhabi, autonomous vehicle of WeRide encountered an accident on November 12. The event was held on November 10 at the Yas Marina Circuit. It is a global event which was focussed on future mobility which includes the participation of autonomous test vehicles.

According to various reports, the accident took place when the human-operated vehicle suddenly came into the lane of the autonomous vehicles without any prior signalling. However, there were no injuries reported, but the vehicle side was extensively damaged, detaching the side sensors with a heavy impact on side mirrors as well.
