The Yangwang U9 Track Edition has set a new electric vehicle record with its incredible top speed of 472.41kph.

BYD’s developed Yangwang has set a benchmark for the highest top speed achieved by any EV on its exclusive U9 Track Edition. At the Automotive Testing Papenburg (ATP) test track in Germany, the electric supercar reached a remarkable top speed of 472.41 km/hr. Yangwang achieved this record on August 8.

However, the Track Edition of the Yangwang U9 shares the same powertrain figures with the standard EV, but BYD has bring several high-end performance enhancements and has updated the software on all four motors with a torque stretching at 30,000 RPM (one mounted at each wheel) to generate a peak power of 555 kW (around 755 HP) by each motor.
POWER: According to Yangwang, the U9 Track Edition is capable of generating over 3,000 HP of combined power coming from four motors and has a striking power to weight ratio of 1217HP/tonne. Just for reference, the Koenigsegg One: 1 provides a power-to-weight ratio of 1,000HP/tonne, amounting to 1HP:1Kg.
Other upgrades from the standard U9 EV includes a new track-developed semi-slick tyres which are exclusively made by Giti Tire, and a carbon-fibre front splitter, which comes as an optional accessory on the stock model sold in China.
Yangwang states that apart from these upgrades, the U9 Track Edition shares the same mechanical specifications and features as the standard model, featuring the quad-motor’s independent torque-vectoring system integrated with the DiSus-X ‘Intelligent Body Control System’ which is a dedicated suspension system designed specifically for high-performance EVs which allow them to jump over potholes, thus enhancing their dynamics and handling.
If we talk about the previous record of world’s fastest EV, it was the Aspark OWL SP600 Hypercar, which achieved a record top speed of 438.7 kph, at the same test track in Germany.
