The Afeela electric SUV prototype has been unveiled at CES 2026.

The Afeela electric vehicle brand which is made under joint partnership between Sony and Honda has displayed their new prototype model at the annual CES trade show. It is heavily based on the Vision-S 02 concept that was first showcased at CES 2022. It is a modern yet sleek SUV-inspired prototype positioned as the larger sister of the Afeela 1 electric sedan. 

This will be the second EV in the brand’s lineup and is scheduled for a 2028 launch. Sony Honda Mobility announced its public debut in 2023, when it showcased their Afeela 1’s prototype. The production version was first displayed at CES 2025, and at the same time SHM introduced their dedicated EV brand. 

Honda is currently looking at the engineering and development, followed by Sony, which is working on the tech front by constantly enhancing the user experience of the vehicles, thus making the production variant as a complete product for the consumers. 

Afeela SUV Prototype: An Over-the-Top Sedan?

Looking at the first glance, everyone can relate to it as an SUV, but after a closer look, it is clearly the bigger version of the Afeela 1 sedan. It bears the same design philosophy with minimalist design elements and is also equipped with wraparound LED headlamps placed above the closed-off front fascia. 

The roof is sloping at the back, giving it a fastback look and the silhouette features sleek overhangs and substantial aero-optimised wheels. 

Afeela SUV Prototype Interior

The Afeela SUV prototype features a simple yet minimalistic interior theme, as SMH has kept things simple while designing its Afeela cars. However, the interior is not yet revealed but it is expected to borrow Afeela 1’s cabin design. 

The electric sedan features simplistic yet minimal interiors that comes with an end-to-end display setup which is attached at the top of the dashboard. The screen comprises a digital driver’s cluster, long infotainment panel, and screens placed at the top of the dashboard. There is also an addition of a york-styled steering wheel which provides a clear look to the screens behind. 

Afeela SUV Prototype Battery & Power

SMH has not revealed any technical specifications, but the Afeela SUV could derive power from the sedan’s 91 kWh battery pack integrated with a dual-motor setup coming with an all-wheel drive powertrain. 

The sedan generates a maximum power output of 475 Bhp and provides a significant range of 482 Km on a single charge. The battery also supports rapid DC charging and support speeds of up to 150 kW. 

Afeela Prototype SUV: When will it Launch? 

The Afeela SUV could be launched sometime in 2028. On the other hand, the Afeela 1 sedan is close to production and could be introduced next year in Japan and the US. However, Afeela has no plans to launch their cars in the Indian market.
