Ather Energy has launched the Ather Konarc electric scooter in India. Announced at Ather Community Day on August 29, 2026, the Konarc is the company's first production scooter based on its new EL platform. The starting price of ₹99,999 (ex-showroom) makes it the most affordable scooter in Ather's current range. The Konarc is available in different batteries and range, with the currently detailed S variants offering 100 km, 125 km and 161 km of claimed IDC range. 

A 200-km version and Z variants are also part of the planned Konarc family. Unlike Ather's performance-focused 450 range, the Konarc has been developed around comfort, practicality, and affordability. Ather Konarc Price in India

The Ather Konarc starts at ₹99,999 ex-showroom. However, it is important to understand that this entry price does not get you the longest-range version. The currently announced S-line pricing is:

Prices are ex-showroom and can vary depending on the city and applicable charges.

Ather's official website currently lists the S range with four IDC range options - 100 km, 125 km, 161 km and 200 km but says the 125-km and 161-km versions are currently available in select cities. This is important because the ₹99,999 price tag is essentially an entry point into the Konarc range, rather than the price of the longest-range model.

Ather Konarc Battery and Range

Battery capacity is one of the biggest differences between the Konarc variants.

The currently detailed versions use 2.1 kWh, 2.7 kWh and 3.5 kWh battery packs. The official specifications list claimed IDC ranges of 100 km, 125 km and 161 km respectively.

However, Ather also provides a TrueRange figure which is more useful when thinking about everyday riding conditions.

  • 2.1 kWh: 100 km IDC / 80 km TrueRange
  • 2.7 kWh: 125 km IDC / 100 km TrueRange
  • 3.5 kWh: 161 km IDC / 130 km TrueRange

Ather's official specifications also show all three versions using a PMSM motor with 16 Nm of torque while peak power rises from 4 kW in the S 100 to 4.7 kW in the S 125 and S 161.

The 200-km Konarc S is planned for the future but its final battery specification and pricing have not been disclosed by Ather yet.

Ather Konarc Performance and Top Speed

The Konarc is not designed as a performance scooter in the same way as Ather's 450 models. Instead, Ather has focused on smooth and predictable performance for everyday family use. The currently available S variants have a 70 km/h claimed top speed. The S 100 produces 4 kW while the S 125 and S 161 produce 4.7 kW. All three have 16 Nm of maximum torque. Acceleration from 0-40 km/h is claimed at:

  • S 100: 5 seconds
  • S 125: 4.7 seconds
  • S 161: 4.7 seconds

The scooter also gets three riding modes: SmartEco, Eco and Power. These allow riders to choose between efficiency and stronger performance depending on the situation.

New EL Platform: Why Is It Important?

The Konarc is more important to Ather than just being another scooter launch.

It is the first production model based on Ather's EL platform which the company introduced as a new architecture designed for scalability and cost optimisation. Ather says the platform was developed around areas such as manufacturing efficiency, serviceability, quality, safety and easier charging.

The company's AGM transcript explains that the EL architecture uses a simplified electronic architecture, a steel frame, a redesigned transmission and greater commonality between components. The objective is to create a platform that can support multiple products in the future. This could be particularly important for Ather because the company previously had limited presence in the ₹1 lakh-₹1.25 lakh segment. Ather's management has said this price band represents a major portion of India's electric scooter market.

Ather Konarc Design and Practicality

The Konarc gets a very different design philosophy compared with the sporty Ather 450.

It features a more conventional family-scooter shape with a broad seat, flat floorboard and metal body panels. The scooter uses a steel unibody chassis and gets 14-inch alloy wheels at the front and 12-inch wheels at the rear. The 1,352 mm wheelbase is also relatively long for an Ather scooter. 

Combined with 90 mm of front suspension travel and 100 mm at the rear, this setup is intended to improve stability and ride comfort on Indian roads. Practicality is another strong point. The Konarc offers 31 litres of under-seat storage, enough for everyday belongings and, according to Ather, up to two half-face helmets. It also gets a 2-litre front storage area. For a family scooter, these details may matter more than outright acceleration.

Ather Konarc Charging Time

One of the interesting technologies introduced with the Konarc is Combined Charging.

The scooter gets a 450W onboard charger as standard. Because the charger is integrated into the scooter, owners can plug it directly into a regular wall socket without having to carry a separate bulky charging brick. For faster charging, an additional 450W charger can be used along with the onboard charger. According to Ather's official specifications:

  • S 100: 0-80% in 4 hours with standard charging
  • S 125: 0-80% in 4 hours 30 minutes
  • S 161: 0-80% in 5 hours 40 minutes

With Combined Charging, the times reduce to approximately:

  • S 100: 2 hours
  • S 125: 2 hours 25 minutes
  • S 161: 3 hours 10 minutes

At Ather Grid charging locations, the scooter can add up to 15 km of range in 10 minutes, depending on the variant and charging setup.

Ather Konarc Features

The Konarc comes with a good mix of convenience and technology features. Depending on the variant, buyers get features such as:

  • 4.2-inch or 7-inch DeepView display
  • SmartEco, Eco and Power modes
  • Park Assist/reverse function
  • AutoHold & AirWalk
  • 31-litre boot
  • 2-litre front storage
  • USB charging
  • Ather app connectivity

The higher variants also get a larger 7-inch display and additional connected functions.

MagicKey and AirWalk of Ather Konarc

Two of the more interesting features are MagicKey and AirWalk. AirWalk provides motor assistance when manually pushing or pulling the scooter, making it easier to move around in tight parking spaces. Ather says the feature automatically detects the manual movement and provides assistance in the same direction. MagicKey is part of the Konarc's convenience technology and is associated with keyless operation and easier access features on the higher variants.

Ather Konarc Safety Features

Safety is another area where Ather has introduced new technology. The Konarc gets AeBS, or Advanced Electronic Braking System, alongside its conventional braking hardware. Ather says this system has been developed specifically with Indian riding conditions in mind. The S 100 uses drum brakes at both ends while the S 125 and S 161 get a 220 mm front disc brake and 130 mm rear drum brake. The scooter also gets features such as AutoHold and FallSafe on higher variants, adding to the overall safety and convenience package.

Ather Konarc Warranty and Service

Battery ownership is an important concern for electric scooter buyers, and Ather has addressed it with multiple warranty options. The standard battery warranty is 3 years or 30,000 km. With AtherStack Pro, this can increase to 5 years or 60,000 km. Customers can then choose extended battery warranty options of 8 years/80,000 km or 10 years/1,00,000 km, subject to the applicable package and terms. 

The Konarc also gets Ather's Service Once A Year approach, with routine maintenance scheduled every 12 months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first. This could make the Konarc attractive to buyers who want to reduce the number of visits to a service centre compared with a conventional petrol scooter.

Ather Konarc Delivery Timeline

Ather is rolling out the Konarc in phases rather than making every variant available immediately. As per the company's official statement the 125-km and 161-km S variants are available in select cities while other variants are planned for later. The 100-km S version, 200-km S version and Z variants are listed as upcoming products. Therefore, customers should check availability in their specific city before assuming that every Konarc variant can be booked immediately.

Final Verdict

The Ather Konarc electric scooter has arrived at an important time for India's EV market. Starting at ₹99,999, it gives Ather a product positioned much closer to mainstream scooter buyers while retaining several of the technology and software features. Its 2.1 kWh to 3.5 kWh battery options, up to 161 km currently available IDC range, 31-litre storage, 14-inch front wheel, long suspension travel, combined charging and 10,000-km service interval make it a practical proposition rather than a scooter focused purely on performance. 

The upcoming 200-km version and Z variants could make the Konarc family even more competitive. Most importantly, the Konarc gives Ather a new platform from which it can build several more affordable electric scooters in the future. That makes this launch significant not just for Konarc, but for Ather's next phase of growth in India's electric two-wheeler market.
