Ferrari revises its electric vehicle forecast downward as it showcases the powertrain of the ‘Elettrica’.
Ferrari has put an end to all the speculations as they have finally revealed the technical details of its upcoming electric supercar. According to their analysis, there is a significant cutback in overall EV sales.
Ferrari on its Capital Markets Day in 2022 has estimated that EVs could amount to 40% of its total sales, with hybrids contributing a significant 40%, and the remaining 20% of the sales will be coming from ICE models.
However, as the 2025 Capital Markets Day was concluded which was organised at Ferrari’s new e-Building in Maranello, the brand announced that they have significantly cut down their EV forecasts to 20% and has expected their ICE model sales to go up to 40%, with hybrid forecast to remain the same at 40% by the end of 2030.
Ferrari plans to keep following a 'Scarcity' business model.
Apart from the drop in EV sales projections, Ferrari has not slowed down their electrification journey as these are just estimated numbers and overall sales are intended to grow over a certain period of time. However, the brand will be intentionally restricting the units within certain limits, as implemented before.
The company follows the ideology of Scarcity business model and has a strong belief that exclusivity and perfection increases the demand and value of the brand. The CEO of Ferrari, Benedetto Vigna expressed his views at the 2025 Capital Markets Day and said, “I would be happy to sell limited volumes of more models rather than a few models with more volumes.”
He stated further that, “There are various ways to increase the revenue and EBITDA, but that’s not our strategy as we want to grow constantly by maintaining our brand standards and uniqueness of our company.”
However, the surprising news is that the upcoming all-electric Ferrari which is branded as Electrica is receiving amazing response and will be soon launched to meet the growing demand for EVs, However, Vigna also clarified that Electrica will be appealing for a broader audience as it will be not easily available in the market, thus following the brand’s exclusivity.
Ferrari is confident that Electrica will be a promising product and will appeal to potential markets like China and other countries in the Asian subcontinent. However, it doesn’t have the potential to open new markets with the EV, but its official reveal has generated a substantial curiosity among the EV industry.
The design and final product of the Electrica will be officially introduced by Q2 of 2026, followed by the launch which will be initiated shortly after.
