Hyundai's Nexon EV Competitor Set to Debut Before Year Closes; Equipped with Rapid Charging & Pleos Connect.

Hyundai is all set to enter the sub-4 meter electric SUV category with an all-new model by the end of this year. Codenamed as HE1i, the upcoming Hyundai compact electric SUV will be going against the likes of the segment king Tata Nexon EV, Kia Syros EV and Mahindra 3XO EV. 

Hyundai's upcoming mass-market electric SUV Details

The new Hyundai compact electric SUV will be locally produced at Hyundai’s Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu, as the electric SUV was spotted testing numerous times at the Indian roads. It is also expected that the upcoming SUV will be coming with the brand’s Pleos Connect center screen, which will also be offered in the next-gen Creta. 

The latest spotted testing mule showcased unique headlamp structures, which suggests that Hyundai could also offer different design elements. Hyundai will be also bringing fast-charging support up to 120 kW. However, the company has not revealed the technical specifications yet to be revealed. 

The upcoming model will be featuring a boxy design complemented by large windows and a flat roofline. It will also come with aero-optimised dual-tone alloy wheels and compact horizontal rear lamps. It will also be equipped with a large central touchscreen infotainment unit. Other expected features include ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat, and ample space in the second row. 

The new Hyundai compact SUV will be totally a born-electric SUV and will feature high-density NMC battery pack, which will be co-engineered by Hyundai and Exide energies. It is expected to be offered in standard range and long range variants. It is expected to come with a 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery pack, similar to the Creta Electric.
