Kinetic India has started the manufacturing of its self-developed Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries at its Ahilya Nagar plant, followed by the first unit starting from today itself. The battery is developed by Range-X, which is the battery manufacturing company of Kinetic India.

This battery is certified by AIS 156 standards, the battery will be initially used in the recently launched Kinetic DX electric scooter and will be extensively used in two and three-wheeled vehicles. The company states that the Range-X LFP batteries are developed to offer enhanced safety and longer battery life.

The batteries are equipped with a smart Battery Management System (BMS), which helps to extract maximum performance and extend the life of batteries by ensuring greater efficiency. As per the company, the batteries provide a long life cycle of 2000-3000 charging cycles by ensuring effective thermal stability.

The Vice Chairman of Kinetic India, Ajinkya Firodia, expressed his views on this and said, “These first batteries manufactured from our production facility is a testament to Range-X, as these batteries will be the core foundation of Kinetic DX electric scooter and the next range of electric scooters coming to India.

Range X

By fulfilling the AIS 156 certification, Range-X has set a new milestone in battery standards by ensuring reliability, safety, and sustainability in every battery we manufacture.”

Range-X Ahilya Nagar Production Facility

The company’s Ahilya nagar facility is a fully automated, IoT-equipped manufacturing unit powered by POKE-YOKE systems and stage-wise checks. According to Kinetic, the facility’s production unit is designed to offer higher efficiency and scalability, which could ensure a significant rise in production, thus catering to the rising demand for locally manufactured EV parts.

Kinetic DX Electric

This rollout is in sync with the brand’s latest launch of the Kinetic DX electric scooter, which comes at an affordable price of Rs 1.12 lakh and Rs 1.18 lakh (Ex-showroom). The Kinetic DX will be available with two trim levels, starting from DX and DX+.

Kinetic DX

The electric scooter has redefined nostalgia by bringing back the legendary nameplate of the Kinetic last seen on the iconic ICE powered model which was produced between 1984 and 2007. The DX+ variant sources power from a Range-X developed 2.6 kWh battery pack, returning an IDC certified range of 116 Km on a single charge.

It also comes with three riding modes, which helps the user to extract power accordingly. These particular modes are Range, Power, and Turbo. The Kinetic DX has a top speed of 90 km/hr. The bookings for the electric scooter commenced from July 28, with deliveries expected to start from October 2025, with a goal of manufacturing 40,000 units for the first batch.
