Tesla Model Y Range Test India: Real-World Delhi Driving Experience

The Tesla Model Y is the first electric car from Tesla run on the Indian roads and comes with an option of two battery packs: a 64 kWh battery pack in the Standard RWD range and a substantial 84.2 kWh battery pack in the Long Range RWD. We recently had a talk with the user of the Tesla Model Y to know the exact real-world range he is able to extract with the car.

According to the user, the Model Y provided a real-world range between 520-530 Km in mixed driving conditions, during a two-hour road test. He shared his full experience of real-world drive in the busy streets of Delhi especially in traffic areas.

The user tested the Long Range RWD variant, which comes with a WLTP range of 622 Km, whichever comes first. But after doing a real-world range test by navigating in heavy traffic and cruising at high-speed expressway at a cruising speed of 70-75 km/hr, the results were highly astonishing.

The car effortlessly proves its efficiency, even in tight traffic conditions, which are not ideal for cruising. Here is a complete breakdown of the real-world range figures the user achieved on the Indian roads on a specific two-hour road test.

NOTE: The real-world range test of the standard variant is just an assumption from the achieved real-world range of the Long Range model.

The Tesla Model Y absorbed the speed breakers and potholes seamlessly by making the occupants feel comfortable. However, you expect this powerful EV to be bumpy in this stop-and-go traffic, but Model Y behaved quite opposite and was incredibly smooth.

The standout features of Model Y was exceptional cabin insulation as it features double-coated side window glass and a triple-coated panoramic sunroof which just cuts the unnecessary road noise. As per the user, the Model Y felt planted, highly responsive to throttle inputs, and comfortable in Indian road conditions.
