Tata Motors achieves a significant milestone with 250,000 EV sales.
Tata Motors has achieved a significant milestone of crossing 2.5 lakh EV sales since launching their first electric car, the Nexon EV in early 2020. The Nexon EV has also bagged the record of crossing 1 lakh units in cumulative sales.
Currently, Tata is having the most diverse lineup of electric cars positioned in every segment ranging from as low as 8 lakh and going up to Rs 30 lakh. The company has also solidified its position as the Number one EV manufacturer in the EV segment, which is further backed by a developed charging infrastructure.
Tata’s Electric Portfolio
Tata’s most remarkable strategy was to introduce the electric versions of its ICE counterparts, excluding the Altroz and Safari, all having their dedicated EV versions. The company’s EV lineup comprises:

- Tiago EV (Positioned in compact EV segment)
- Tigor EV Xpress-T Version (For Commercial Fleet Operators)
- Curvv EV & Harrier EV (Positioned for Premium Buyers)
Tata is currently manufacturing their EVs with 50% domestically sourced components which includes in-house power electronics and thermal management systems. As per Tata, more than 26% of its EV customers are transitioning to EVs for the first time, while 84% use their electric car as primary source of mobility.
Tata Nexon EV Sales
The Nexon EV’s sales have crossed the 1 lakh barrier in six years, with the 50,000 milestone achieved in June 2023. Over the years, the Nexon EV witnessed significant increase in sales which was evident after the company introduced mid-lifecycle facelift in September 2023, with major technical and equipment modifications.

Tata Charging Infrastructure
This evolving sales in EVs is due to the company’s widespread charging infrastructure. Tata has stated that they have installed more than 2 lakh charging points across India which includes home charging, community charging and public charging points.
POWER CAPACITY: These chargers have the charging speeds of up to 120 kW, comprising 100 MegaCharger hubs across key highway corridors with 16 charging points per hub. Tata’s vision for 2027 includes a significant increase of public charging points up to 30,000 and up to 1 lakh by the end of 2030.
