Tata Technologies, which is a product engineering and digital service company has introduced its latest battery intelligence platform called as WATTSync, which is basically an Aadhar identification of a battery manufactured in India. According to the company, the platform follows the EU Battery Regulation (EU BR 2023/1542).

WATTSync Details

India will be implementing a QR-Code enabled Battery Aadhar Framework in order to increase the traceability and know the actual battery lifecycle. Tata Technologies has stated that WATTSync will be doing the generation and management of a specific 21-character Battery Pack Aadhar Number (BPAN), which will be assigned to each battery pack.

This BPAN number will integrate battery identifiers in manufacturing, operations, and end-of-life processes. The company also clarified that the platform structure is aligned with the global digital battery passport requirements as it provides access to static and dynamic battery data, providing the whole timeline of the battery, from its creation to its end of lifecycle.

The platform also includes Battery Aadhar data fields which includes manufacturer details, battery specifications, material composition, chemistry, and battery carbon footprint (BCF). It also provides environmental data which is made according to the EU regulatory requirements.

The platform also seamlessly integrates with Battery Management Systems (BMS) in order to track State of Health (SoH), charge-discharge cycles, thermal events, and operational parameters in order to provide the accurate analysis of the battery.

Battery LifeCycle Manager

The platform’s Battery LifeCycle Manager tracks the lifecycle stages of the battery, from its manufacturing and usage to repair, repurposing, and recycling. WATTSync also provides role-based access control (RBAC) features that provide structured data access for manufacturers, suppliers, operators, and auditors which are subjected to regulatory guidelines.

All these data are important for predictive maintenance and monitoring, which includes thermal event detection, battery remaining life and risk assessment.
