Tesla, just after a month of commencing bookings has delivered their first Tesla Model Y. The first Indian owner of this electric crossover is Pratap Sarnaik, who is also Maharashtra’s Transport Minister. He took a delivery for Model Y in a Pearl White Multi-Coat colour shade and was delivered from Tesla’s first Experience Center at Bandra Kurla Complex, situated in Mumbai. 

There was a video which was shared on LiveMint, which shows that the minister was taking delivery for his new Model Y finished in pearl white colour. Tesla offers an option of 6 colour shades irrespective of any variant you choose, and these include Stealth Grey, Pearl White Multi-Coat, Diamond Black, Glacier Blue, QuickSilver, and Ultra Red. Out of these colours, Stealth Grey comes free with no additional costs. 

The Pearl White Multi-Coat, along with the Diamond Black can be selected at an additional cost of Rs 95,000. The Glacier Blue paint scheme commands a premium of Rs 1.25 lakh over the ex-showroom price, followed by Quicksilver and Ultra Red colours available at an extra cost of Rs 1.85 lakh.

Tesla Model Y Interior Options

In India, Tesla has provided two interior themes for Model Y which covers no additional costs, these include an All Black or Black & White. Tesla is also providing the Full-Self Driving (FSD) package at an additional cost of Rs 6 lakh. 

The FSD features will be strictly subjected to regulatory approvals, and currently, the system needs active driver suspension to operate effectively under Indian road conditions. The Model Y will be also receiving its OTA updates as the FSD evolves over the time.

Tesla Model Y Battery & Range

Tesla Model Y comes in India with two battery pack options :-

Tesla Y

  • 60 kWh battery pack available in a standard model, that provides a WLTP-certified range of 500 Km on a single charge.
  • A long Range model which boasts a larger 75 kWh battery pack and provides a 622 Km of claimed range on a single charge. 

POWER: This crossover is powered by a single rear-wheel drive electric motor that churns 295 BHP of maximum power and can achieve a 0-100 km/hr in just 5.9 seconds. The Model Y also supports Tesla’s Supercharging network and can provide a 238-267 Km of range in just 15 minutes of DC fast charging.
