1. Mahindra Vision.S

Expected Launch Date: Around January to mid-2027 
Estimated Price: ₹10.50 to ₹17.50 Lakh

The Mahindra Vision.S is among India's most anticipated future compact SUV concept cars. Mahindra unveiled Vision.S in August 2025 as part of the company's Freedom_NU / Vision 2027 programme. The Vision.S is based on the new NU_IQ modular, multi-energy platform, supporting petrol, diesel, hybrid, and EV powertrains, upon which Mahindra has developed four concepts: Vision.S, Vision.T, Vision.SXT and Vision.X. Mahindra has described the Vision.S design as "Sporty Solidity" featuring a boxy, upright "mini-Scorpio" or rugged mini-Defender stance with an off-road-inspired look. 

The company also unveiled the Vision.S as a compact, premium SUV, which has a muscular stance and has a design language different from the current Mahindra compact SUVs. Test mules spotted in India have shown ICE gearboxes and exhaust setups alongside potential EV adaptations. For now, buyers should watch out for Mahindra's official announcement of the production Vision.S-based model as more details are yet to be announced. 

2. Renault Bridger EV

Expected Launch Date: Late 2027
Estimated Price: ₹10 lakh to ₹17.76 lakh 

The Renault Bridger EV Concept is set to become the first all-electric vehicle in India, with the production version expected to launch by late 2027 at an entry-level price tag of Rs. 10 Lakh. It will utilise the Renault Group’s flexible R-GMP (Renault Group Modular Platform) which will allow the use of petrol, hybrid, and fully electric powertrains with extensive localisation. The EV will be based on a single electric motor at the front axle and will offer multiple battery pack options. 

Although the official specifications for the battery and charging still have to be announced. The Renault Bridger EV Concept follows the upright boxy design language with large LED DRLs, big body cladding, and a spare wheel at the tailgate, while the sub-4-metre length will ensure that the production model will be a compact SUV fit for Indian roads. It will offer an excellent 200mm of ground clearance along with a roomy cabin, with more than ample legroom in the rear, and a 400L boot, making it perfect for both, daily commuting as well as road trips on weekends.

3. Tata Nexon Next Generation

Expected Launch Date: Mid 2027
Estimated Price: ₹12 lakh- ₹19 lakh

The next generation of Tata Nexon EV, referred as “Garud,” is expected to be launched by mid-2027. Reportedly, Tata Motor will unveil the successor model of the compact electric vehicle, Tata Nexon in the first half of 2027. As per the report, the company has planned to release the next-generation electric vehicle in mid-2027. The starting price of the vehicle is expected to be around Rs.12 Lakh, whereas, the top-end battery variants may cost close to or exceed Rs.19 Lakh. 

The upcoming model will witness changes in the platform, and it is likely to adopt a battery pack, possibly with enhanced mileage. The interior designs of the vehicle are also expected to change, and the brand is likely to introduce a larger infotainment screen, advanced dashboard display, and the new set of Level 2 ADAS_driver assistance systems. The Tata Nexon.ev is one of India's most popular electric SUVs, which means that most buyers would be genuinely excited to learn about its future iteration.

4. VinFast VF 3

Expected Launch Date: October to November 2026
Estimated Price: ₹7.50 Lakh – ₹10 Lakh (ex-showroom)

The VinFast VF 3 is perhaps the most surprising entry on this list, as it does not appear to be a standard five-seat compact SUV. Rather, the VF 3 is a small four-seat electric SUV, which has been positioned by VinFast as an alternative to a small city EV and a traditional SUV. The automaker has officially described the VF 3 as a modern and sporty four-seater eSUV with all-wheel drive at the rear. The global/market-specific VF 3 specification from VinFast lists the following details:

• Four-seat configuration
• Rear-wheel drive
• 40 hp motor
• 110 Nm torque
• One electric motor
• 36-minute fast charging from 10 to 70 percent
• 5.3 seconds for 0-50 km/h acceleration

Essentially, these are the claimed specifications from VinFast's website. They should not be considered specific figures unless stated otherwise.

The VF 3 electric SUV could provide buyers with an alternative to a traditional five-seat EV, particularly in terms of size and price. Its small footprint would ensure excellent manoeuvrability in India's busy cities, while its upright design and tailgate-mounted spare wheel would give it a more rugged appearance than many of today's mainstream crossovers. However, it's important to remember that VinFast has not yet shared any India-specific VF 3 specification or launch details. 

5. Honda 0 Alpha

Expected Launch Date: March 2027 
Estimated Price: ₹17 lakh to ₹22 lakh (ex-showroom) 

The Honda 0 Alpha has one of the most official India release timelines. 0 Alpha is part of Honda's next-gen 0 Series EV family, with the automaker unveiling the 0 Alpha prototype in October 2025. The Honda 0 Alpha production model has been defined as an SUV with a roomy cabin, which has been created around the company's Thin, Light, and Wise philosophy. Most importantly for India's electric vehicle buyers, Honda has officially stated that the production model of the 0 Alpha is due to commence sales worldwide, including India, from 2027. 

The 0 Alpha design has been engineered with India in mind, as the automaker's design team has spent time in the country, studying Indian cities, exploring the local road conditions and understanding the needs of Indian buyers. The 0 Alpha EV blends a low body profile with an elevated ground clearance typical of an SUV. It's claimed that the 0 Series packaging is engineered to create a spacious interior within a compact exterior. The official battery capacity, range, motor power and price details for the India-spec 0 Alpha have not yet been announced. 

6. Maruti Suzuki Fronx EV

Expected Launch Date: March 2027
Estimated Price: ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom) 

Among India's electric vehicle buyers, the Maruti Suzuki Fronx EV is one of the most searched for electric compact SUVs from the country's largest passenger vehicle manufacturer. Maruti Suzuki's current Fronx is one of the most popular compact SUVs in India, with the company describing it as a modern SUV with a range of powertrain and technology options. But there is an important contrast between the current Fronx and the expected Fronx EV.

The existing Fronx already has the compact crossover design that many urban Indian buyers are looking for. An electric version of the Fronx could allow Maruti Suzuki to enter the entry-level / compact EV segment, potentially undercutting or complementing the e VITARA, depending on the Fronx EV's final size and price. Official production details for the Fronx EV have not yet been announced by Maruti Suzuki. While Maruti Suzuki has not officially named or confirmed a production ready Fronx EV.
