VinFast Electric Scooter India: New Patent Hints at Upcoming EV Launch
VinFast has patented an e-scooter in India. However, we have reported various news about the company patenting three e-scooters and e-motorcycle since June. This time, we have got a great look at another electric scooter’s patent and it could be India-specific products.
Vinfast’s new Electric Scooter Design & Specs
The best part is it is specifically designed for the Indian market and will be completely different from the scooters currently sold in Vietnam. It includes:
- Clean & Modern Design: The scooter will come with a clean and a minimalistic front fascia integrated with VinFast Logo placed at the top. It also includes a horizontally mounted headlight unit equipped with integrated indicators attached on either side.
- Tech-Focussed: It also gets the inclusion of an exposed handlebar paired with an instrument display, which is expected to come with a modern LCD or TFT unit.
- Solid Foundation: The model will also come with substantial 14-inch wheels at both ends, integrated with a reliable telescopic fork placed at the front and twin shocks at the rear.
- Entry-Level Positioning: The scooter will be powered by a rear-wheel mounted hub motor. Due to its compact dimensions, it is expected to be positioned in the affordable price segment.
Clever Storage and Battery Placement
One of the most highlighted details emerged from the patent is the addition of thick-claded floorboard. Why is it important? It ensures that VinFast might attach the battery pack under your feet. Thus by moving the battery pack to the floorboard, VinFast could free up enough under-seat boot space.
The patent also showcases a conventional physical key, while few premium scooters (like the Suzuki e-Access) are moving towards keyless systems, standard keys are still relevant, keeping costs down and simple.
VinFast Electric Scooter Launch Timeline
VinFast is yet to reveal an official launch for the Indian market, as the company has 50 dealers already lining up and a variety of patents rolling out.
