MG Windsor EV Pro is one of the most successful EVs in India as it has hit the right chord with consumers. As MG is ruling the segment with the Windsor EV, Vietnamese manufacturer Vinfast has launched their VF6 in the Indian market and is pricing the car aggressively. Both electric SUVs are creating buzz in the market, but the real question arises here is which EV is a best pick for you?

Battery & Range

Vinfast VF6: It is a compact 5-seater electric SUV, built exclusively for Indian road conditions and packs a 59.6 kWh battery pack providing a significant range of 468 Km on a single charge.

Windsor EV Pro: On the other hand, MG’s popular Windsor EV Pro comes with a 52.9 kWh battery pack, providing a claimed range of 449 Km on a single charge.

Both cars provide similar range figures and battery packs, but as per range figures, VF6 provides a slightly better range but the Windsor Pro is not far behind and in real-world range, both cars can provide a healthy 380-420 Km of range (depending on the individual driving style).

Power & Performance

Vinfast VF6: it comes with two variants, Earth version which gets a 174 HP & 250 Nm of peak torque and a top-spec Wind version with a maximum power output of 201 HP & 310 Nm of peak torque. VF6 can accelerate from 0-100 in just 9 seconds (as per Global Info).

MG Windsor EV Pro: It generates a maximum power output of 136 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque. For city driving, it is perfect and gives a linear response the moment you push the throttle.

Verdict: So if you are prioritising real performance and raw power, then VF6 is pure fun and if you are looking for overall comfort and refinement, Windsor EV is a perfect choice as it delivers these quite beautifully.

Charging & Infrastructure

Vinfast VF6: As charging speeds are quite important while deciding for an EV, the Vinfast VF6 can provide a 10-70% charge in just 25 minutes. So charging a big battery in such a short time is quite impressive for the car of this segment. There is also a home charging support of up to 11 kW AC.

MG Windsor EV Pro: The Windsor EV Pro provides a DC fast charging for 0-80% in just 50 minutes through a 60 kW DC charger. There is also an option of a 7.4 kW AC home charger, which can charge Windsor EV’s batteries overnight.

Verdict: As MG has set up their roots in the Indian EV industry, it is clearly ahead as it already has a network of 2000+ charging points at different locations. On the other hand, Vinfast is new in India and working towards the development of their charging infrastructure. So in terms of Charging & Infrastructure, Windsor EV Pro is a perfect pick.

Price & Ownership

Vinfast VF6: One of the most important aspects is the price and ownership costs. Vinfast has just started their operations in India and has launched the VF6 at an introductory price of Rs 16.49 lakh (Earth Edition) and top-spec Wind variant costing around 18.29 Lakh.

Vinfast is also providing free maintenance services and charging till 2028, as per its official announcements.

Windsor EV Pro: It is available with a starting price of Rs 17.49 lakh (ex-showroom), MG is also providing Battery-as-a-Service option for consumers if they want to only pay for the battery, thus in order to reduce upfront costs.

One of the biggest advantages in the favour of MG is their developed service network, and greater brand recognition as compared to the newly launched Vinfast brand.

Verdict: So if you are ready to experiment and place your bets on a newly launched brand and want competitive pricing, then Vinfast is the best pick for you. But if you are prioritising peace of mind and best after-sales services, then MG is a safer choice out of the two.

Features & ADAS

Vinfast VF6: It gets various premium features such as Level 2 ADAS functionalities like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, 360 Degree Camera, and HUD display.

The interiors are also crafted with a premium touch featuring dual-screen setup and minimalist design language.

MG Windsor EV Pro: It also comes loaded with ADAS Level 2 suite and is integrated with 12 advanced features, digital cluster, connected car-tech, and voice assistant. In addition, MG is also offering lifetime battery warranty on the Pro variant, which is a big relief especially for those who are shifting on the electric mobility for the first time.

Verdict: In terms of features, both cars are providing the same set of features, however MG offers a luxurious cabin with increased practicality as compared to the Vinfast, while the Vietnamese manufacturer provides a futuristic yet sporty interior.
