Volvo unveils refreshed XC60 and XC90 models featuring enhanced plug-in hybrid electric vehicle options
Volvo has introduced facelifts of the XC60 and XC90 Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) variants by upgrading their battery packs and claimed range. There are visual differences in XC60’s exterior and interior design as well with the introduction of new styling elements. The XC90 gets the same design and features.
Volvo XC60, XC90 Facelifts: What’s New?
Volvo has replaced the XC60 PHEV’s 19 kWh battery by providing a larger 41.2 kWh battery pack, thus enhancing the WLTP-claimed all-electric range up to 200 Km (up by 121 Km). However, the larger battery has increased the overall kerb weight of the car, which now stands at 2,197 Kg.
POWER: The plug-in hybrid setup gets the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine that sends power to the front wheels. It comes integrated with electric motors driving the rear wheels. The updated all-wheel drive XC60 PHEV generates 461 Hp of maximum power output and peak torque of 759 Nm, with a claimed 0-100 km/hr in just 4.8 seconds.

XC90 PHEV
The XC90 PHEV also gets the same battery pack upgrade with a larger 41.2 kWh battery pack, thus increasing the WLTP-claimed range from 66 Km to 162 Km, which is a significant increase of 96 Km. The SUV’s kerb weight has also been increased by 36 Kg to 2,386 Kg.

Volvo XC60 Design Updates
Volvo has extensively updated the XC60’s overall fascia as it now gets T-shaped ‘Thor’s Hammer’ LED Daytime running lamps (DRLs), a new grille and a revised bumper with redesigned air intakes. The SUV also gets a fresh set of alloy wheels, with sizes ranging from 18 to 22 inches.
The rear gets redesigned tail-lights providing a minimalistic look, while the rear bumper sports aggressive creases. On the inside, the updated XC60 gets a slightly redesigned dashboard, as the 11.2-inch infotainment screen doesn't look like an added accessory and instead feels more seamlessly attached to the dashboard, all thanks to redesigned center AC vents.
The system is also updated with Volvo’s newer Car UX software. Volvo has also stated that the advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) now also comes with advanced radar, cameras and sensors. The seat and upholstery design remains the same.
