Honda ceased production of the Activa e and QC1 scooters as of August.
Honda has halted the production of their Activa e and QC1 electric scooters since August 2025, according to the news from the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). The production has abruptly stopped just six months after the commencement of the production in February 2025.
Honda Active e and QC1: What’s the Problem?
One of the biggest issues Honda is facing during the production of these two scooters is the lack of home-charging and limited charging infrastructure, which is generating slow sales. During the timeframe of February and July 2025, the company manufactured 11,168 units of the Active e and QC1.
However, the company dispatched only 5,201 units (46.6% Approx) to dealers, as the company has a majority of unsold units, which could be a major issue of halting the production.
Another important reason for slow production could be Honda’s late entry into the electric segment which led to a slow adoption of both the scooters as compared to their competition such as TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.

The halt in production signifies that the two-wheeler manufacturer is rethinking its electric strategy for India and must be actively looking to ramp up the production again, once the infrastructure is developed.
However, the Activa e is currently on sale in Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi only as these areas have a developed battery swapping infrastructure. On the other hand, the QC1 is available in six cities including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Chandigarh.
