Mahindra launched the BE 6 SPORTEQ in India on August 15, 2026, offering a tech-focused and performance-optimized EV. The new BE 6 SPORTEQ series builds upon the sporty design and electric performance of the BE 6 by introducing an emphasis on artificial intelligence, connected technologies, personalization and in-car entertainment.
The BE 6 SPORTEQ will be available in eight variants with battery sizes of 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh, depending on the chosen grade.

Mahindra has also introduced Battery as a Service (BaaS) ownership, reducing the starting price from ₹19.45 lakh for full purchase to ₹11.45 lakh ex-showroom (car price only, battery not included). Under the BaaS battery subscription model, the battery will be charged at ₹3.75 per km driven, based on Mahindra’s calculation of 60 km driven per day. Mahindra has announced the introduction of BE 6 SPORTEQ Launch Edition and BE 6 SPORTEQ FE Formula E Freedom Edition. Deliveries of the BE 6 SPORTEQ range are set to begin on 26 August 2026, coinciding with the Onam harvest festival.

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ: What’s New?

The new BE 6 SPORTEQ is more than just a facelift on the BE 6 range. The series represents Mahindra’s latest thinking on sportiness and technology, going beyond the current BE 6’s features and design. The changes are primarily focused within the cabin and related to the car’s software technologies. The SPORTEQ introduces Mahindra’s six TEQ Suites run on the car’s MAIA artificial intelligence architecture.

The SPORTEQ’s other significant change is the optional three-screen coast-to-coast digital cockpit beginning with the TWO variant. Mahindra has also reimagined its racing-inspired cockpit seen in the original BE 6 as the new Formula E Freedom Edition. For buyers seeking a contrasting visual experience, the SPORTEQ offers 12 exterior color options, including four exclusive to SPORTEQ: Rosso Impulso, Ruby Velvet, Graphite Storm and Firestorm Orange Satin.

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Price in India

The BE 6 SPORTEQ offers extensive choice with its eight variants and three battery sizes. Prices across the range, according to Mahindra’s official announcement, are as follows:

Variant Battery Ex-showroom Price
BE 6 SPORTEQ ONE 59 kWh ₹19.45 lakh (₹11.45 lakh + ₹3.75/km with BaaS)
BE 6 SPORTEQ TWO 59 kWh ₹20.95 lakh (59 kWh) or ₹12.95 lakh + ₹3.75/km with BaaS.
BE 6 SPORTEQ THREE 59 kWh/ 70 kWh ₹21.95 lakh (59 kWh) or ₹22.95 lakh (70 kWh).
BE 6 SPORTEQ THREE+ 70 kWh/ 79 kWh ₹23.95 lakh (70 kWh) or ₹24.95 lakh (79 kWh).
BE 6 SPORTEQ FOUR 79 kWh ₹26.95 lakh
BE 6 SPORTEQ Launch Edition 79 kWh ₹26.95 lakh
BE 6 SPORTEQ FE 79 kWh ₹24.45 lakh
BE 6 SPORTEQ FE FOUR 79 kWh ₹26.95 lakh

Notes:
BaaS price does not include the battery cost, which is calculated at ₹3.75/km. The wall charger and its installation are also not included in the announced prices. Customers can choose between the battery subscription (BaaS), conventional battery ownership (battery cost included in the car price) or simply opt for a higher-specification model with greater equipment and battery size.

BE 6 SPORTEQ BaaS: Battery as a Service Ownership

One of the most talked-about aspects of the BE 6 SPORTEQ launch is Battery as a Service (BaaS). The initial purchase price of the car is lower as the cost of the battery is separated from the car cost. The BE 6 SPORTEQ ONE, starts at ₹11.45 lakh with BaaS, whereas the battery cost is calculated at ₹3.75/km, according to the Mahindra announcement. Per the company’s calculations, the daily driving distance is 60 km.

The BaaS subscription model is convenient for those who wish to reduce their initial car-buying costs. The disadvantage of the model, however, is that the overall cost of car ownership depends on the distance driven and associated battery costs, which should be carefully considered compared to conventional battery ownership.

BE 6 SPORTEQ Battery Options

The SPORTEQ range offers three battery sizes:

  • 59 kWh battery
  • 70 kWh battery
  • 79 kWh battery

The 59 kWh battery is available with BE 6 SPORTEQ ONE, TWO and THREE variants, whereas the 70 kWh battery is an optional specification for THREE and THREE+ variants. Finally, the 79 kWh battery is available for THREE+, FOUR, Launch Edition and FE variants.

It is important to note that Mahindra did not indicate any range figures for each battery size in its SPORTEQ launch announcement. Therefore it is best not to assume that the range figures of the existing BE 6 range apply to all SPORTEQ battery sizes.

Design and Exterior of Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ

Mahindra BE 6 already possesses one of the most distinctive exteriors among the company’s electric SUVs, and the SPORTEQ series further enhances this direction. The SPORTEQ range is available in 12 exterior colors, including four exclusive to SPORTEQ: Rosso Impulso, Ruby Velvet, Graphite Storm and Firestorm Orange Satin. Additionally, the Launch Edition receives Graphite Storm exterior and Racing Tan leatherette interior as standard specification.

This makes the top-of-the-range SPORTEQ even more premium-focused and desirable. The Formula E Freedom Edition employs the original BE 6 headlamp design while also adopting a more performance-focused exterior treatment and subtle tricolour accents inspired by Mahindra Racing. It also becomes available in satin finish, with Rosso Impulso being one of the options.

Three-Screen Digital Cockpit

One of the most obvious changes inside the BE 6 SPORTEQ is the introduction of a three-screen coast-to-coast digital cockpit. Available from the TWO variant onward, the three-screen cockpit creates a connected and futuristic feel by putting more information within the driver’s reach.

The cockpit is part of Mahindra’s broader vision for the BE 6 as a connected and software-defined vehicle, as opposed to the more traditional infotainment-focused cockpit. The difference is best demonstrated with the introduction of the Formula E Freedom Edition. This performance-focused SPORTEQ variant retains the BE 6’s original two-screen cockpit arrangement and the halo design element, emphasizing its motorsport-inspired DNA.

MAIA and Six TEQ Suites

Perhaps the most significant change in the SPORTEQ is the introduction of Mahindra’s MAIA Artificial Intelligence Architecture. MAIA serves as the foundation for the six TEQ Suites introduced with the SPORTEQ, TEQ_Talk, TEQ_Play, TEQ_Drive, TEQ_Me, TEQ_Secure, and TEQ_xting. Together, they represent the company’s vision for a connected, personalized and interactive driving experience.

TEQ_Talk: TEQ_Talk is the BE 6 SPORTEQ’s conversational artificial intelligence suite. It is based on Google Gemini and offers features such as 17 specialized AI agents and more than 100 core functions and 48 apps, according to Mahindra’s announcement. The suite covers functions such as vehicle control, navigation, music, news, and more. Essentially, TEQ_Talk replaces conventional touchscreens by allowing the driver to speak to the car and control various applications.

TEQ_Play: TEQ_Play focuses on in-car entertainment and offers features such as, Karaoke, In-car gaming, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) gaming, private Audio, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, GrooveMe Party, Milestone, and more.  According to Mahindra, karaoke and in-car gaming are firsts for an Indian OEM. The suite also promotes “entertainment on the go”.

TEQ_Drive: TEQ_Drive covers driving and vehicle-control functions, offering features like, Custom Drive Mode, Drift Mode, Tribe Drive, Revive, Revive SOS, and Acceleration Boost on FE variant. Acceleration Boost on the Formula E Freedom Edition is said to enable a 0-100 km/h time of 6.44 seconds.

TEQ_Me: TEQ_Me is all about personalization. As mentioned, TEQ_Talk has the ability to automatically identify the driver. Another significant feature is the user-profile auto-detection, which enables the vehicle to recognize individual users.

TEQ_Secure: TEQ_Secure introduces connected security features. It offers the following functions:
Secure360 Pro with live view and intrusion alert (audio relay). NFC and Digital Car Key across multiple devices including iPhone, Apple Watch, Android smartphone, Samsung Galaxy and NFC key card. Mahindra notes that it is the first Indian automotive OEM to offer Car Connectivity Consortium-compliant Digital Car Key functionality across multiple device ecosystems. Another interesting feature is the third-screen parental lock.

TEQ_xting: The sixth and final suite is TEQ_xting, which enables the owner to personalize tailgate messages.

Software-Defined Vehicle

Another significant detail about the BE 6 SPORTEQ is that it is a software-defined vehicle. Mahindra has announced that the technologies and software innovations introduced with the SPORTEQ are set to be available for existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners through OTA (over-the-air) updates. The updates are set to begin in January 2027, according to Mahindra’s official announcement. However, it is important to note that the available features will be dependent on the car’s model and variant. This aspect is also interesting from the consumer perspective, as it implies that the equipment and technologies of the car are not fixed at the point of sale. Instead, the vehicle can receive new features and functions long after the initial purchase.

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Charging

The company’s official BE 6 documentation provides a useful reference for potential buyers inquiring about the BE 6 SPORTEQ’s charging technology. The BE 6 platform offers CCS2 charging, AC charging and rapid DC charging. The 79 kWh battery version is specified to charge from 20% to 80% in approximately 20 minutes with the appropriate DC charger.

However, it is always important to clarify the charger specification when purchasing a SPORTEQ, as the charging performance will be dependent on the charger’s output.

The wall charger and its installation are not included in the announced SPORTEQ starting prices.

Mahindra BE 6 SPORTEQ Safety and Security Technology

The SPORTEQ introduces additional safety and security technologies aimed at connected car owners. Most notably, the new TEQ_Secure suite offers connected security features such as Secure360 Pro with live view and intrusion alert (audio relay). The digital key solution also becomes available for the BE 6 SPORTEQ, allowing compatible smartphones, smartwatches and NFC key cards to be used as car keys.

This particular technology has been highlighted by Mahindra as the first Indian automotive OEM to introduce Car Connectivity Consortium-compliant Digital Car Key technology across multiple device ecosystems. Among the available devices are iPhones, Apple Watches, Android smartphones, Samsung Galaxy wearables and NFC key cards. Another interesting addition is the third-screen parental lock.

The existing BE 6 variants also offer a comprehensive list of advanced driver-assistance technologies, depending on the chosen grade. For example, the higher-specification variants offer Level 2 ADAS driving assistance.
