Volkswagen has unveiled the specifications for the ID.Polo EV ahead of its global launch in 2026.
Volkswagen is all set to launch its highly anticipated ID.Polo in the early 2026 as its inaugural EV in the compact EV segment. Just ahead of its launch, the company has also revealed technical details of its upcoming model. The Polo concept was first displayed at the IAA Mobility 2025 held at Munich.
The Polo EV will be the beginning of Volkswagen’s legacy towards electric power and will be the first of four models in the lineup specifically positioned for the compact EV segment.
Volkswagen ID.Polo Battery & Power
The ID.Polo will be the first electric car to be underpinned by Volkswagen Group’s in-house developed MEB+ platform, which is a dedicated platform made exclusively to underpin the sportier ID.Polo GTI.

The platform will be supporting two battery pack options integrated with a front-mounted electric motor offering three distinct power outputs depending on which variant you choose.

Volkswagen ID.Polo EV Dimensions & Capacity
Dimension wise, the ID.Polo measures 4,053 mm in length, 1,816 mm in width, and 1,530 mm in height, followed by a wheelbase of 2,600 mm which provides maximum interior space while maintaining the compact dimensions of the car.

When compared to the current generation Polo, the upcoming model commands 19 mm of interior length, with a slight increase in width and headroom. The electric Polo’s trunk volume measures at 435 litres, which is a significant 25% increase over the ICE version’s 351 litres. This can be further improved to 1,243 litres by folding the rear seats down.
The ID.Polo EV will soon be launched in 2026 and will be manufactured in the SEAT and CUPRA plant in Martorell, Spain and will be introduced at a starting price of 26.74 lakh. With this launch, Volkswagen will be updating its electric lineup by launching six total models every year.
