Xiaomi reveals SkyNomad as the brand's second EV series.
Xiaomi has introduced SkyNomad as the second product series under its EV portfolio, expanding beyond the SU7 sedan and YU7 SUV. The upcoming series will include large SUVs, which will be positioned under a totally redesigned cabin rather than a conventional driver-oriented cabin. As per the company, the new series will be launched later in China.
New Scope for Xiaomi EV
With the introduction of SkyNomad, Xiaomi is separating its EV lineup with two product lines. The SU7 and YU7 are designed with performance-focused buyers in mind, while the new series aims to appeal to those seeking luxurious interiors and optimal passenger comfort.
AdvertisementXiaomi states that the idea of SkyNomad originated first in 2023 as customers expected beyond large cabins and more features. According to the company's analysis on buyer behaviour, the consumers are looking for vehicles for everyday practicality and usability, which includes commuting and family travel to work from a parked vehicle.

Underpinned by New Platform
The SkyNomad range will be underpinned by Xiaomi’s newly developed Kunlun architecture. The platform has been exclusively developed to accommodate a flat-floor layout and a long-track seating system, allowing the interiors to be customised for different uses.
As per Xiaomi, the cabin can be easily interchanged between standard driving layout and other configurations according to the activities like working, relaxing, or spending time with family, while the vehicle is parked. The architecture has also been engineered to house passengers, luggage and pets within the same interior layout.
The company has said that these changes are possible due to the integration of Artificial Intelligence, its connected device ecosystem and its manufacturing technologies.
